Sally’s Areas of Focus
Siblings.
Often, when one child in the home is facing challenges such as, ASD, chronic illness, addiction, and behavioral problems, the majority of the focus turns onto them. When this is the case, the other children in the home can feel left out, alone, guilty, and are in need of their own support. Having a safe space to express their own feeling surrounding the change in the family system is extremely beneficial to their well-being.
Type 1 Diabetes.
When a child, teen, or young adult are diagnosed with T1D, they are immediately thrown into a big life transition. There is added responsibility, emotional ups and downs, and an adjustment to a new way of life. It is important to have a safe space where they can process and work through challenging emotions and enhance coping tools.
